Super Angel 5500 Juicer Review

Built entirely out of stainless steel and sporting two impressive twin gears , the Super Angel 5500 is a premium cold press juicer that command’s a hefty price. Does its juicing prowess justify spending over $1,000? We take this Korea-imported product out for a spin and see if it truly is worth the price tag.

The Juicer:

With an elongated juicing snout and two medieval looking gears designed to crush pulp into oblivion, the Super Angel 5500 is not a machine that lends itself to mobility. But it certainly looks very elegant. And comes with an old school wooden plunger, two plastic containers, a cleaning brush and screen cleaning knife as extras. In short, everything a person needs to start juicing right away .

The Angel’s selling point of course is its two masticating stainless steel gears, both of which counter rotate to crush fruits and anything else down to the very fibers that hold them together. And as a result, it produces the driest pulp we have ever seen so far. It’s also very easy to clean (though we don’t really recommend sticking it inside a dishwasher), and the screen is surprisingly well built– all things considered.

So, it’s powerful, well built, easy to clean, produces super dry pulp and doesn’t drip either. Almost a perfect juicer, the Super Angel 5500 comes with some very unfortunate baggage that we need to address. And that’s the warranty issue. Although it says, “10 years” on the box, that only applies for non-wearable parts. Parts that take on the brunt of juicing (such as the screen) are under far less– 5 years in the United States.

The length of warranty differs by country, while most reviews and customers have openly stated that there is no practical form of warranty support behind the $1,174 juicer.

Super Angels’ primary US distributor and seller, Juicers USA, has time and time again failed to honor very legitimate warranty claims. So, if anyone does buy the machine, keep in mind that you’re essentially on your own when it comes to support or warranties.

The Juice:

The juice is great, not only does it taste fantastic, the twin gear technology even beats our favorite, the Omega J8006 on yield when comes to vegetables and leafy greens — producing almost twice the amount. While it does produce a bit more juice on fruits as well, it truly is only a thimble more than the Omega, an absolutely negligible amount.

Of course, the Omega costs around $258, while the Super Angel costs around $1,174, so keep that price factor in mind (and the Omega has excellent warranty support).

The pulp produced is also super dry, way dryer than anything we’ve handled so far. The twin gears do an excellent job in squeezing out juice and producing very little (but very dry) pulp.

There was nothing that didn’t juice well, but we do have to mention that it takes a bit of arm strength to push down on hard vegetables like carrots and potatoes, the Super Angel is not a friend to the noodle-armed.

Tech Specs:

With dimensions of 19 x 7.8 x 10.5 inches and weighing 28 pounds, the Angel is not meant for mobility, and better left to professional kitchens and similar uses. The motor is an 86 RPM beast that produces juice fairly quickly, and doesn’t exactly raise the roof in terms of noise, but it’s a tiny bit louder than other masticating juicers we’ve reviewed in the past .

Final Verdict:

We simply cannot stand behind a juicer that doesn’t have a solid foundation — warranty support. Despite what the company claims time and time again, their support is abysmal, and any product on the market is only as good as its support. Minus the warranty issue, the Super Angel 5500 is actually a pretty good heavy-duty juicer, though not worth $1,174. With competition, support and overall value considered, we simply cannot recommend the Super Angel 5500 juicer, there plenty of better and cheaper fish out there.
